Happy National Volunteers’ Week 2022!

Volunteers’ Week is an annual campaign to celebrate and recognise the impact of volunteers across the UK. It’s an opportunity to thank volunteers for their hard work, and to encourage people to think about volunteering.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual campaign to celebrate and recognise the impact of volunteers across the UK. It’s an opportunity to thank volunteers for their hard work, and to encourage people to think about volunteering.

We see the invaluable contribution that volunteers make to the charities we feature each month. But did you know Givto is run entirely by volunteers too? The Givto service is managed by the Better Giving Partnership, a charity founded by a group of friends in Leeds and run remotely by a team of volunteers across the UK. Every week, they offer their time, knowledge and expertise to develop our service and make it easy to donate to charity.

So, why do they do it? To celebrate Volunteers’ Week, we asked a few of our volunteers to tell us what they get out of volunteering for Givto.

“I get to work with a great group of people where the motivation is that the more we manage to grow, the more causes, charities and people we help – what’s not to love!”

Maria Serna, Content Lead

“I joined the volunteering team at Givto to use my professional skills in a different context where I could give back. It’s so rewarding seeing a tangible difference with what I do and knowing it’s helping smaller charities get a foot up.”

Amber Polley, Research and Design Specialist

“I enjoy using my professional skills to make a difference. It’s a great opportunity to learn from volunteers who are experts in other areas and test my skills in new areas. I love being part of a (virtual) team who share the same goal of making giving easier.”

Penny Coulthard, Charity Engagement Director

“I wanted to get involved with Givto because it’s such a unique concept. I love the idea that you aren’t just helping one charity, you’re helping 36 different charities a year, and introducing people to new causes they didn’t know about who really need support. It’s a great team and so nice to work with such passionate and inspiring people who make me want to work harder to make Givto a success.”

Laura Mitchell, Media and PR Specialist

“Working as a volunteer for Givto is a fantastic experience and an opportunity for me to gain work experience and skills, meet new people, and work with a supportive team in a subject I really love.”

Lydia Magalios, Content Team

“I truly believe that Givto is a groundbreaking idea to give users the flexibility to give to who they choose and to smaller local charities each month. I get a huge amount of satisfaction knowing I’m helping in some small way to get this idea off the ground and watch it grow from strength to strength.”

Janet Morgan, Research Specialist

“What I like best about volunteering for Givto is that it’s a small charity run by volunteers that is helping other small charities to grow and reach more people.”

Pauline Richardson, Imagery and Multimedia Specialist

To all our volunteers, we’d like to say a huge thank you for the impact you’ve made on Givto and for helping to shape it into the wonderful service it is today. We couldn’t do it without you.You can learn more about our team of volunteers here.
